FAQs
Start the process online here by filling in the application. One partner will be required to pick it up from an Ottawa city hall location in person and that person will need to show two pieces of government issued ID (in English or French) for themselves and for the second partner. Final divorce documents and/or death certificates need to be provided if required.
A licence is valid for 90 days from the date of purchase, so don’t buy it too early. We recommend not more than six weeks prior to the ceremony.
We’ve helped hundreds of couples in Ottawa work through the province’s expedited certificate application process. Whether you need the certificate for immigration, travel or other urgent situations, we would be happy to assist. We are not able to guarantee the province accepts your request for a rush, that’s up to provincial officials.
Yes, of course! Our Ottawa team has years of experience conducting all kinds of ceremonies. Whether it’s an interfaith ceremony or includes cultural traditions like the cord and veil ceremony, breaking the glass, handfasting, or a sand ceremony — tell us about your plans and we will work to make your vision a reality.
We offer our services in English, French, German, Spanish, and Turkish.
We cover all of Ottawa and the surrounding areas from Renfrew to Hawkesbury and south all the way to Morrisburg. The location is up to you. The only location we provide is the Ottawa Wedding Chapel, location just south of the city in the town of Kenmore.
