Ordination

Rev Max was ordained by The United Church of Canada Bay of Quinte Conference in 2003. Originally from outside of London, Ontario, he moved to the Highlands in 2003 to become the minister at Minden United Church, Maple Lake United Church and Zion United Church in Carnarvon.  In 2018 Minden and Zion amalgamated and are now known as Highland Hills United Church in Minden.

Primary clergy person for two churches, Hospital & Home visitation, Unified Board, Council & Committee Meetings, Preside Worship, Communion, Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals, Preach, Facilitate Workshops, Staff Supervisor, Student Minister Educational Supervisor, Bookkeeper, General Administration, Chair of Regional Mission Support Grants the Finance committee & Past Chair of Clergy Search committee, Past Presbytery Secretary & Treasurer.

Hobbies

He enjoys rural life: swimming, camping, hiking, canoeing, growing a garden and flying a Cessna 172 (private pilot)

Family

Amanda (Max’s partner) and Max have three children, Lily, Emily and Thomas.

Giving Back

Rev Max volunteers as the Treasurer for Places for People. On March 11, 2017 Max was named Highlander of the Year at the 11th annual Haliburton Highlands Chamber of Commerce Business and Community Achievement Awards Gala.
 
He has spent the past number of years involved with housing organization Places for People, the Minden Food Bank, an Army Cadets volunteer and currently a Lieutenant and is a Mason with the Arcadia Lodge in Minden.
 
He said his community involvement is a way for him to demonstrate his faith: “I like to tell people it’s me living out my faith and this is how I’m trying to do it. I’m trying my best.”
